About

Michael McCarthy

Born and raised in Flushing Queens and trained at the School of Visual Arts in NYC, Michael is a multidisciplinary video and graphic artist. His body of work ranges from short films to large scale art installations, with innumerable photographs in between. Described by his peers as “David Lynch meets Walt Disney”, Michael’s style is whimsically irreverent. His work aims to stretch the limits of perception and leave his audience questioning what they accept as dogma.

Michael is currently Creative Manager at Baltz & Company in NYC. He has been photographing food, chefs and restaurants for nearly 15 years throughout New York City and Los Angeles. Michael has had photos featured in the New York Times Magazine, USA Today, People Magazine, Departures and Esquire.

Most recently he has been enraptured with the synthesis of live visual art and projection mapping to express his unique themes. Michael has performed at a number of music festivals and events including Suwannee Hulaween, Wild Woods Music & Arts Festival and Brooklyn Comes Alive.

Michael currently lives in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.
